We asked Lewis to tell us about winning I’m a Scientist, and here is what he said…
Whilst I’m happy to have won, I’m sad that it is over – at the start it felt strange being taken out of my comfort zone, but by the end I was looking forward to it! The chance to think about familiar things in a completely new perspective, as well as things that had simply never occurred to me has been invaluable. I’ve learnt a lot, and I hope you all have too!
I’d like to thank everybody who voted for me (I’m honoured!), but also the other scientists in my zone – reading your top-class answers showed me the stiff competition I had and spurred me on! Thanks as well to all the guys behind the scenes; I dread to think how much effort went into that two weeks!
As for the prize money, I am going try and commission a video from my favourite channel Kurzgesagt about how solar panels work, and how we need all forms of renewables to meet our future energy needs. I was really happy to see a few people knew the channel, but if you haven’t seen them before check them out (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uti2niW2BRA). They explain some pretty complex topics very simply, and all with excellent animations.
Thank you again to everybody!
Lewis
