On an average day, on a scale of 1-10, Im working at between 4-5.

If Im running a set of experiments, or if I have a deadline, I stay in the lab until its done; before thats been until 10pm, so those days are a 9!

Sometimes I have a good day where the patients we see go to plan, on these days, I’d say 5/6 out of 10. But when things go wrong, and we need to fix the machines, then I’d definitely say 9/10 or even 10/10! But these days don’t come very often! Luckily!

My week varies from a 1/10 where I slack and feel like I have done nothing but merely read about things. No work, all procrastination (keeping it real). Most other times however, it is an above average days these days, which includes reading, being in lab doing experiments for at least 6-7hrs in a day. That makes such a day a 8/10. If I have to then go home and do more, like cleaning, DIY etc. That’s definitely a 9/10 then. After which I’d be exhausted and most certainly the next day won’t be as productive again, perhaps a 5/10? 🙂

It depends on the project and deadline. I have worked flat out with very little sleep for days on end to get a project finished before a grant deadline – 18 hour days. When I am making protein, it can be three days of 12 hour days. Sometimes I can leave early. Usually its at least 9 or 10 hours a day.

I’d ramp up and down depending on whether there are any deadlines (8/10), or just cruising (4/10)
