    Question: how was cancer discovered

      i think it was more of a stepped thing. Research probably found similarities in how people died before they even knew about cancer. After more examples are found they then discover that these similarities could be explained cells going rogue/behaving abnornally. After so many different types of this behaviour are found, it is then decided that this is a whole grouping of disease, warranting a name, so they call it cancer.
