I don’t really study animals, all of my work has been with microorganisms like bacteria or viruses. But the coolest virus I have worked with is one that infects bacteria, called a bacteriophage. This virus has the most powerful pump found in nature, it pumps the virus DNA genes into a small protein ball until it is so tightly packed that the pressure is equivalent to 30 champagne bottles. It is more powerful than an industrial vaccuum cleaner, more powerful than the pumps that pump cement from the cement truck up into big buildings. A tiny molecular motor (pump) all made from proteins!
