In my current job, I’ve improved how we make images of the earth (using sound). These improvements have allowed my company to more easily find oil and gas. Since it can cost $10-100 million just to drill one well to extract that oil (!), the financial impact of imaging improvements are there.

In my previous work, I did a PhD in medical imaging. I invented an improved way to track lung tumours to improve the accuracy of radiotherapy treatments to kill the tumours. That was pretty cool, but hard work!

On a cool note, but not as financially important, I’ve also invented a new kind of steering, called AAAS Steering (annularly arranged articulating segments). Check it out if you want to see mechanical steering in action!
